Our ADR group, including three former judges and senior members of chambers, has significant experience of successfully resolving matters outside of litigation, including arbitration, mediation, independent expert determination, and investigations.
As a multi-disciplinary set, we can offer ADR services across all our core practice areas, including commercial litigation, insurance and reinsurance, employment, personal injury, clinical negligence, and tax.
We offer a suite of high-quality meeting rooms suitable for arbitration, mediation and conferences. Additionally, we have recently invested in hybrid conferencing technology, allowing seamless integration of in-person and remote attendees. A number of our rooms can be joined together to form a large room to accommodate a significant number around a single table, in a U-shaped arbitration layout or in a theatre style.

Commercial Arbitration
Senior Members of Chambers have experience chairing and acting as members of arbitration panels and accept appointments to sit in most types of arbitration both domestically and internationally across a variety of arbitral institutions, including LCIA, ICC, DIAC and HKIAC among others, as well as ad hoc references.

-
Commercial Mediation
Our ADR group can help parties to resolve disputes through a mediated agreement. Our mediators do not decide or resolve the dispute themselves but can assist the parties in resolving the issues in dispute by exploring the legal issues, evidence, and the merits with them. Our mediators help both parties to air their concerns, hear from the other side and work through the issues that are in dispute.

-
Independent Expert Determination
An expert written determination or paper-only arbitration most frequently arises as a result of the parties’ arbitration agreement or industry specific rules providing for such a procedure. Equally, in large and complex arbitrations which require the resolution of multifaceted issues, discrete issues may be dealt with by way of documents alone and handled by independent experts in the relevant field.
The Award/Determination is a written, detailed and reasoned judgment, which is completely independent and is binding on the parties and so offers a sense of certainty, unlike some forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Members of Devereux have experience of carrying out determinations, particularly in insurance, professional negligence and tax disputes.

Employment Arbitration and Mediation
Senior Members of Chambers have experience chairing and acting as members of arbitration panels. Our ADR group includes three former judges with extensive experience of deciding employment arbitrations.
Our ADR panel can help parties to resolve disputes through a mediated agreement. Our former judges may be of particular interest to parties with difficult employment disputes which require a deep understanding of the underlying issues in order to reach a mutually beneficial resolution.
Both claimants and respondents can have confidence in the impartiality and reputation of our members and former judicial associate members.
-
Employment Investigations
Members of Devereux have considerable experience in handling all aspects of internal and/or regulatory investigations spanning a variety of business sectors and ranging from comparatively minor disciplinary and grievance issues, to specialist cross-border investigations involving international businesses.
