Devereux ranked in Chambers High Net Worth 2019
Devereux Chambers, its members and clerks have received high praise in the 2019 edition of Chambers High Net Worth.
Ranked in Band 2 of the Tax: Private Client London (Bar) section of the publication, Devereux has a "strong reputation". Our barristers are considered "very competent and pleasant advocates" who "put their cases well."
Six members have been individually ranked, including a new entry for Christopher Stone:
Felicity Cullen QC (Band 2) "is incredibly able"; "she has huge technical knowledge, she is sensibly risk-averse in the current climate, and she will answer the questions you didn't ask but should have done."
Akash Nawbatt QC (Band 2): "a truly excellent advocate" who is "very good at making his point and handling witnesses." "His cross-examination was very effective - by the time he was finished, the damage could not be undone."
Aparna Nathan QC (New Silk) "is always very fair and doesn't try any funny business"; she is "very practical - she doesn't take any silly points, she is a pleasure to go up against."
Barrie Akin (Band 3): is "concise and clear" and a "sound advocate."
Marika Lemos (Band 2): "absolutely excellent," she also wins praise for her "practical ability" and "very clear and pragmatic advice."
Christopher Stone (Band 3): A "top tip for silk - he is very good indeed. He has got to the stage where he is being pitched by the Revenue to go up against silks. He is exactly ready for it, he has acquired real court presence."
Our excellent client service also received recognition: "all the clerks are quietly efficient." The clerking at Devereux is "excellent - unobtrusive and not as fussy or old-fashioned as other sets." Senior practice manager Glenn Billenness and practice manager Chris Downes are key members of the clerking team.
