GLO obtained for former British Steel coke oven workers
Robert Weir QC is acting for former British Steel coke oven workers across England and Wales and their families in relation to exposure to hazardous chemicals at work from the 1940s onwards. The coke oven workers sustained a range of illnesses including lung cancer and respiratory illnesses. Following a contested hearing in Hutson and others v Tata Steel UK Ltd [2016] EWHC 3031 (QB), a Group Litigation Order has been granted. This GLO will now be managed by Turner J, who is also in charge of the British Coal coke oven workers group litigation.
Robert Weir QC is acting for the claimants in the British Steel and British Coal group actions with Ivan Bowley, instructed by Irwin Mitchell and Hugh James solicitors.
