To celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, Diana Cotton KC has been in conversation with Alice Mayhew KC, sharing her experiences at the Bar, and the challenges she has faced.
Diana Cotton KC, a former member of Devereux Chambers, was called in 1964, at a time when there very few practicing female barristers. Diana went on to forge a highly successful career as a barrister and judge. In 1983, she became only the 23rd female barrister to take Silk. In her conversation with Alice Mayhew KC, Diana discusses her journey to the bar and the challenges she, and other women, have faced as practicing barristers, while also providing advice for women who are considering a career at the Bar in 2025 and beyond.
