Jesse Crozier succeeds for BBC in Croxall equal pay claims
Jesse Crozier acted for the BBC in having equal pay claims brought by four BBC News Presenters dismissed on the basis of earlier settlement agreements. Each presenter asserted that they could bring new claims for equal pay post-dating settlement agreements reached in 2020. The presenters argued that their settlement agreements did not bar future claims. These arguments were rejected by the Tribunal. The ET accepted that the claims were substantially the same as earlier settled claims and were precluded by existing settlement terms.
The case has attracted considerable media attention, including The Guardian, The Times, The Independent and The BBC. The presenters’ remaining claims concerned with a restructure of the BBC’s news output will be determined at a three week trial in spring 2025.
Jesse was instructed by Rob Marsh and Monica Kurnatowska of Baker & McKenzie LLP.
